Unit Conversions Wizard

As discussed in more detail in the topic titled Unit Conversions, when Resort Recipe needs a conversion factor to convert between two different units, the program displays the Unit Conversion Wizard. (See diagram below.)

NOTE: If deferred unit conversion has been enabled in the Database Preferences dialog, then this wizard will never appear on screen.

The Unit Conversion Wizard asks for a unit conversion factor to convert between two different units when applied to a single ingredient or recipe. For the example above, the Wizard is asking what the conversion factor is between the units grams and case for the ingredient Carrots.

The Wizard will always pose the How many... question in two forms.

I.e. How many grams are in one case?

and How many cases are in 1 gram?

You only ever need enter a conversion factor for one of the questions asked.

Because Resort Recipe lets you create your own units and lets you call them anything, the program doesn't know anything about those units. The program words the How many... question in two different formats to let you choose the format that makes the most sense to you.  The example above, the How many grams are in 1 case? question makes a lot more sense than the other question, so that's the one that you would enter a factor for.

You should enter the conversion factor and click the Finish button when complete.

Resort Recipe will use the new conversion factor when converting between the two units for the ingredient or recipe in question.

NOTE 1: You cannot explicitly display this wizard from a menu option or anywhere else.  Resort Recipe will display this wizard the very first time it needs to convert from one particular unit to another.

NOTE 2: Use the Unit Conversions Dialog box to change the conversion factor at a later time.

If you check the Defer all further unit conversion prompts? box, the program will stop prompting you for unit conversions and generate them automatically.  This has the same effect as deferring unit conversions in the Database Preferences dialog.
