How do I backup my databases?

All Resort Software recipe management products use the same basic database file type and file format, so data backups are the same, regardless of the product you are using.

Each Resort Recipe database consists of a single Microsoft Access database file and to backup your data, all you need to do is backup each of your separate database files.

This is as simple as opening up Windows Explorer and browsing your way to the directory holding your databases (the default setting is My Documents->RecipeData) and copying and pasting the database file (a .mdb or .rsd file) to either CD, DVD, memory stick or an external hard drive.

To make sure the database file is the smallest size possible, we recommend that you run a database integrity test BEFORE you back up your data files. Alternatively, you can create a database snapshot file. This will automatically compact and repair the database and save it as a zip file for storage.

NOTE: Do not use the Export Wizard to perform a backup.
